Our allotment site, at the end of Grange Lane in the middle of Dulwich wood, is part of the Camberwell and District Allotment Society. The other members of CDAS are Grange Lane Allotments and Grove Allotments.
Gunsite Allotment is a very special place. Its location, atmosphere, natural surroundings, wildlife and communal spirit make it a haven for relaxation.
It takes its name from the anti-aircraft battery which protected the City of London in the Second World War. The land, which is owned by The Dulwich Estate, was converted to allotments in 1966, as part of the Camberwell and District Allotment Society.
There are two hundred plots, which are allocated to those at the top of the waiting list, which currently stands at about 160, which means a wait of some six years. The Tenancy Agreement sets out the terms of reference for members; we are very proud of success of the recent successful Drainage and Paths plan; all our plot-holders have worked to improve the site by the digging of ditches and renovation of paths.
